Monthly Meetings

Our regular monthly meetings and talks are held on the first Wednesday evening of each month (except July & August), in the Charles Hunt Centre, Vicarage Field, Hailsham, BN27 1BG, and our programme of talks for the rest of 2022 is available here:

We still continue to respond to email queries about the Society and the town's history, and we will answer as many questions as possible, but may not always be able to reply immediately.

All meetings are open to the public and take place monthly on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Charles Hunt Centre, Vicarage Field, Hailsham, BN27 1BG.

Visitors are always welcome - entrance fee £2.50. (Members attend free). Membership is just £14 per year and renews in January.

VE Day memories

On the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Richard Goldsmith of Hailsham Historical Society chatted with Simon Herbert of Hailsham FM about wartime Hailsham, with memories of the day from local people who were there, as well as press reports from the time.

If this interview has stirred any memories about VE Day in Hailsham, Hellingly or the local area we would love to hear from you. If you have any photographs of the day, we would love to see them and take copies for the museum. You can get in touch at info@hailshamhistoricalsociety.co.uk or telephone Richard on 01323 843102.
